The Wheeling Lions Club
   A Message from our President

Lion President Curtis K. Brown

Message from our President

It is both a pleasure and a high honor to chosen by the Wheeling Lions Club to serve as President for the year 2007-2008.  With the help of a great supporting team, including fellow officers and the Board of Directors, the Wheeling Lions Club continues to serve our community in a wide variety of meaningful ways.

Following the long tradition of Lionism, we meet eye care needs of school children, elderly Senior citizens, and other needy residents of Ohio County.  We also provide hearing examinations and hearing equipment whenever there is a need.  We collect used eyeglasses to be reconditioned and sent to third world countries.  We collect hearing aids to be reconditioned and used domestically.

The Wheeling Lions Club continues to support Lions International and many West Virginia Lions state projects such as the WV Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, Leo Clubs, Youth Exchanges, etc.  Among the special projects of the Wheeling Lions Club is sponsoring Leo Clubs at Wheeling Park High School and Wheeling Middle School.

We are active participants in the large District 29-L Auto Show during the Labor Day weekend.  In addition, we conduct Lions charity fundraisers throughout the year, such as reverse raffles, spaghetti dinners, and our very successful annual golf scramble tournament in May on the Crispin Course at Oglebay Resort.

On a personal note, I encourage our membership to be active and involved in the various projects of the Wheeling Lions Club, and to be always on the lookout for potential new members who can add strength to our club and it’s long history of community service.
