Wheeling Lions Club
***
Annual Club Picnic, held on
the fourth Friday of August at beautiful
Oglebay Park.
***
Annual Christmas Dinner, held
in early December at the White Palace at Wheeling Park. We even arrange
with Mrs. Claus a special visit by her very busy spouse!
***
Salvation Army Bell Ringing,
a Lions tradition, at three local retail locations on the Saturday before
Christmas.
***
Cleaning the Wheeling Heritage Trail,
which stretches from the WesBanco Arena to First Street in
North Wheeling. The scenic trail follows the Ohio River with a unique
perspective of the Victorian Homes of Wheeling Island. The Lions
maintain the fresh appearance of the trail by gathering debris quarterly
during the year.
***
Golf Outings. These impromptu
outings take club members from the Par 3 Course at Oglebay Park to the
Oglebay's Crispin course, a local favorite for golf scrambles and tournaments.
***
Annual Installation of Officers.
The Wheeling Lions Club is typically the first club to have an installation
with the incoming District Governor. As the largest and most raucous
club in the region, the District Governor is happy to get our club "out
of the way" each June.
